Skype or Video Conferencing

As I saw on a class blog from a class in Canada, I would really love to use Skype or some sort of video conferencing program in order to bring the outside world into my classroom. For example, on this blog, they had a question and answer session with a real life Geologist while they were studying rocks. Students could ask her any question they liked, and get a answer back from the live geologist in real time.

Importance of Modeling

From my experience over the years with young children through teenagers, I firmly believe in the importance of modeling. Even when you don't think children are listening or watching, they absolutely are. You can not act or speak in front of or around in any way you would not want them to.

Collaborative Teaching

I believe in helping others as much as you can and that of course includes teaching. I hope when I become to a teacher to be as collaborative as possible with the other teachers in my grade. I hope that they will be able to help me, especially during my first couple of years, and in turn I hope to help them whenever possible.

Google Documents & Podcasts

Outside of my classroom, I hope to use Google Docs to help me keep organized. I hope to use Google Docs as a way of keeping things in an easy location that I can gain access to easily from any computer or cell phone with internet access. I hope to use it to makes lists that I will want to pull up quickly.

I also hope to use podcasts in whatever way I can, if equipment is available.

Treating All Students as Individuals

As an educator I will strive to treat all my students as individuals and treat them with equality, but also teach them as best I can on an individual basis, helping them to learn the best way they individually can.
